University Ridge EWGA League 2011

Welcome to  EWGA golf at University Ridge.  Our league will play on Tuesday nights for 12 weeks (May 17 through August  16). We have four tee times:  4:54, 5:03,  5:12 and  5:21.

Attached to this flier is the tee time schedule for season.  The schedule is also available on the EWGA Madison website. Please note that we do not have league play on  June 7 and July 5.

UW will try to get us on the back 9 at least three times during league.

Stroke Rule

In order to keep pace of play, please limit yourself to 10 strokes per hole.  After 10 strokes, you should pick up your ball and allow the rest of your foursome to complete the hole.  Record a 10 on your scorecard and strive to minimize the number of holes in which you are forced to pick up.

Scorecards and Handicap

University Ridge does not have computer that you can use to enter your handicap.  It is your responsibility to enter your own score  your own computer.   This year we can record our scores for  handicap for free @www.ewga.com..  Using the EWGA handicap system will require that you either start over entering scores beginning with this session OR you can enter some of your

prior WSGA history scores from prior years into the EWGA system to get our handicap established prior to the 2011 season. It doesn't take long. Step by step instructions are available

on the EWGA Madison Website wwww.ewgamadison.org under “leagues/Handicap Information”.

Rain/Bad Weather

Always assume that you are playing.  If the weather is bad all day, I will try to get a decision on play from U-Ridge as soon as possible.  In general, unless there is a lot of standing water or lightening, we will play.  If the course closes, we will be offered a rain check or reschedule.

The rain checks will be given to Mollie Chritton to distribute so no need to check with the club house.   I will pass them out at the next week. However, if it is raining, and you decide not to play, you are not offered a rain check.

Play Your Designated Tee Time

The tee time schedule has been structured to split the early and late tee times and to give everyone the opportunity to play with each other.  We will be playing ready golf. If you miss a tee time and

another team member is ready to play they will take you spot and plan on joining the next tee time.

Substitutes

It is your responsibility to obtain a substitute if you are unable to play.  To find a sub, log on to the EWGA Madison website a click on “request a substitute”.  You are given the option to select the Tuesday University Ridge Sub List.  You type in the message on the tee time and date and the system sends the e-mail directly to the names on the University Ridge sub list.  If you have a sub, please let me know so that I can have the card ready for the appropriate person.  Many times the sub forgets the name of the person they are subbing for.  It makes it easier if we know to expect them.  If you are splitting a league, but interested in a few extra nights of golf, you may want to add you name to the sub list. Recommended sub fee for University Ridge is $35.  If you don't want to get a sub but still would like to play...contact head pro Ryan Wieme 497-4453 and he will

let you know if you can play another  evening  that same week.

Check-in

When you arrive at University Ridge, please check at the club house and proceed to starter.  You will pick up your score card.  Always arrive early and be ready to play 10-15 minutes before your scheduled tee time.  This courtesy ensures that everyone will play their full 9 holes before the sun sets!

FUN NITE AND WHITE ELEPHANT EVENTS

**There will be 2 “FUN NIGHTS” on July 14 and 19 , where you can win Bucky Bucks, to be used in the pro shop. In addition everyone will be given a chance to shop in the pro shop and take

additional  25% off on those two evenings!  There will also be a “WHITE ELEPHANT NIGHT” on August 2, details to come!

No Golf  June 7 or July 5.

University Ridge Roster

A roster of league members is on the web site. I will also pass one out first night of league. If you would like to update any of the information, please do so on the  EWGA website.

Stick Around After Golf

If possible, join your fellow league members for a sandwich and beverage in the club house following golf.  This is a great way to relax and meet some new friends! Ryan has asked the

club house to remain open after our league so we will be able to network.

Golf Carts and Practice Balls

Our league fees include practice balls before the round and we can rent a golf cart this year

for $5  per person per round.

This is YOUR league – have fun and please share your feedback on what you like, dislike, etc. so that we can make improvements each year.

Feel free to contact me at any time!
