Bridges Thursday Golf League 2010

Welcome to the Bridges Thursday night golf league.  Our league will play on Thursday nights for 12 weeks (May 20 – August 5).  Tee times begin at 5:02 and end at 5:18.  Attached is the tee time schedule for season.  The schedule is also available on the EWGA Madison website.

Tee Times

Please get to the golf course and be ready to play 10-15 minutes prior to your tee time.

Substitutes

It is your responsibility to obtain a substitute if you are unable to play.  To find a sub, log on to the EWGA Madison website.  Go to “Members Only,  fill in your name and logon ID.  Click on “Send Email” and select the Category for “Bridges Thursday Subs.”  You type in the message on the tee time and date and the system sends the email directly to the names on the Bridges Thursday sub list.  If you have a sub, please let me know so that I can have the card ready for the appropriate person.   Many times the sub forgets the name of the person they are subbing for.  It makes it easier if we know to expect them.  If you are splitting a league, but interested in a few extra nights of golf, you may want to add your name to the sub list.

Sometimes last minute things come up at the office and you can’t play.  If you can’t play and have no sub, try to leave me a message on my cell phone: 608-215-1111 so we don’t wait for you.  Thanks!

Rain/Bad Weather

Always assume that you are playing.  If the weather is bad all day, I will try to get a decision on play from the Bridges as soon as possible.  In general, unless there is a lot of standing water or lightning, we will play.  If the course closes, we will be offered a rain check or reschedule.  If I find out earlier in the day that the course is closed, I will send an email to you.  However, if the course is open but you decide not to play, you are not offered a rain check.

Scorecards and Handicap

Enter your own scores into the WSGA computer at the golf course after each game.  If you are new to EWGA and did not have a handicap last year, we will work with Keith in the pro shop to ensure a handicap is established for you.   Your EWGA league fee has paid for your WSGA handicap.  If you are sharing a league, it will be necessary for the second golfer to pay the Bridges $25 for the annual handicap record if the league registration isn’t in your name.

Scoring

Count every stroke.  There are no mulligans!  If you have taken 10 strokes on a hole, pick up the ball and record a 10 for the hole.

Club Championship

Our handicap will determine which flight we can play in for the Club Championship.  Winners will advance to the regional tournaments, and regional winners will advance to the national championship in October which will be held this year in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin!   Update your calendars for July 24th for the Club Championship at Door Creek,   August 28th and 29th  for the regionals at Glen Erin in Janesville,  and October 1st and 2nd  for the national championships at Geneva National.  If we’re not playing in Lake Geneva,  lets try to participate in some volunteer opportunities at the tournament.

Bridges and First Tee

You may have noticed that the Bridges golf course has always sponsored lessons and fund raisers for The First Tee,  an organization that helps young golfers.

This year the women of the EWGA Thursday Bridges Golf League have an opportunity to help the young girls who are starting their golf careers with The First Tee.  On Thursday,  June 24th,  please bring any extra golf clothing or equipment to league to donate to the young girls in The First Tee.  Bring new, or very lightly used, items such as golf balls,  tees,  shoes,  clothing,  hats,  clubs,  to the Bridges.  We all win prizes or get gifts of these items that we can’t always use.  Now is your chance to contribute to a good cause,  which happens to be a 501c3 which my accountant friends tell me makes the donation tax deductible!

Stick Around After Golf

The Bridges has a great bar and a great kitchen!  It is the perfect place to wind down after a busy week at the office.  Please stick around  and patronize the Bridges  after golf!

See you on the course!
