Bridges 2008 EWGA Summer League

Welcome to the EWGA Bridges Monday league.  With one exception, league play is on Monday nights for 12 weeks (May 12 through August 4).  There is no league play May 26.

Tee Times

We will be playing the Front and Back 9s six times each.  Please review the schedule carefully so you don’t miss a tee time.  In the interest of trying to get done before dark, we need be aware of pace of play and keep up with the group ahead.  See ‘Pace of Play’ tips below!  Please let me know if you need assistance interpreting the schedule.

There will be a shotgun start on May 19 at 5:15.  Bridges will be providing carts on this day at no charge.

Play Your Designated Tee Time
The tee time schedule was set up to mix people and tee times.  Please check in with the ranger early enough to arrive at the tee box at least 5 minutes before your scheduled time.  Please wait until your scheduled time to tee off to give everyone scheduled at that time a chance to play, but do not wait past your scheduled tee time.

If you arrive late for your tee time, do not assume you can golf with a later tee time.  It is likely that you will have to skip a few holes and golf with your designated group.  The ranger may be able to give you a ride out to the hole they are on.

Rain Checks

Always assume that we are playing.  Unless there is a lot of standing water or lightening, we will play.  We may play in light rain.  If it’s looking like the course will be closed due to weather, I will call the Bridges and send out an e-mail with an update.  Unfortunately, with my work schedule, I cannot guarantee this to happen every week, but I will try.  If the course closes, we will be given rain checks, I’ll get the rain checks from the course for all league members and give them to you the next time I see you.  Please don’t get them from the course individually; as this will make it more difficult to keep track of who has/hasn’t received a rain check for a given week.  I’ll keep them in my bag, so feel free to remind me if I owe you one.

Substitutes

If you need a substitute, follow the directions below to send an e-mail to the women who are registered on the sub list for the Bridges Monday league:

  1. Click on Members Only section on the EWGA Madison Web site and enter your name and password to sign in.
  2. Click on Send an Email.
  3. Click on the drop list for 'Category/League to Send To' and select the Bridges Monday- Subs list.  Make sure you chose the subs list for the Bridges or your request will go to the actual league and not to the subs.
  4. Type the message of your e-mail and click the Send button.  It's a good idea to include the date, place (many people are on more than one sub list) and your tee time.  You should indicate if you would like to be reimbursed for the greens fee.  Some people do, some don’t.

While not required, it’s nice to let the others in your group know if someone will be subbing for you, or if you won’t be able to play.

Handicaps

As part of the league fee, you paid for a Wisconsin State Golf Association (WSGA) handicap fee.  Bridges will automatically enter our weekly scores, so once you are finished with your card turn it in at the pro shop or if the pro shop is already closed for the evening slide it under the door.

If you want to enter your scores from rounds you have played that weren’t part of league play or were at another golf course, talk to the staff at the course, and they can help you get started.  Once you have your id and password, it’s very easy to enter your scores on the WSGA Web site.  The WSGA will e-mail you periodic updates to your handicap.

Keeping Score

We do not have teams in this league or play for match and medal points.  Please keep your own score for handicap purposes and for personal improvement.  We will have alternating games each week to reward the skilled players and those still working on perfecting their game.

Prizes

The winner for the Game of the week will be determined after the final tee time (group) is back in the clubhouse.  The prize will be awarded at this time.  The winner must be present to collect a prize.  If the winner is not present the prize will go to the next highest game score.

Pace of Play

Please remember one of the cardinal rules of golf:  Keep Up with the Group Ahead.  No mulligans.  Hit a provisional ball if you think your drive may have gone OB.  Pick up after 10 swings, including whiffs, even if you haven’t putted out.

Stick Around After Golf

If possible, join your fellow league members for a beverage and/or food in the clubhouse following golf.  This is a great way to relax and meet some new friends.

If any of you have any questions, or if anyone experiences any problems this year, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me.  It's my goal to make this summer as fun and relaxing as possible for each one of you!
