University of Wisconsin course and one of the best in Wisconsin. This is new to our spring/summer line up. Front nine is very open while the back is carved out of woods. Great variety of holes and very challenging. Bunkers, bunkers, bunkers! Greens are fast and true. Rough is some of the toughest and it's a real advantage to be in the fairway or on the green. Anyone who's played "The Rige" knows the front and back nines have sharply contrasting styles, although both let you feel rather well secluded from civilization. The front has fewer trees, and if you're next to one, your biggest problem is probably the ever-present waist-high grass you're standing in. The back nine is the opposite. Trees and thickly forested areas line every hole until the last three, when glimpses of the front-nine style reemerge. The grassy and forested areas aren't marked as hazards, but playing from these bastions of the 25 - handicapper won't necessarily save more shots than declaring a ball lost.
